Headband with more Twists
I wanted to do this so you can see the headband. I LOVE doing hair headbands. They are so cute & you can do them in so many ways - like a braid or french braid or even a french twist - so many unlimited options. But today - we just did a straight headband.
First off, part the hair on the natural side & then part from the part down to the earlobe - on each side of the part. Pull the rest of the hair up into a clip.
As you can see, her hair is all clipped up & I've grabbed both sides of the head band & tied them together underneath with an elastic.

Then, I parted the hair going along with that same natural part, a little bit further down & once again cut towards the ear lobe so that I had a piece that I could twist. I pinned it to the side, to stay out of my way, so I could part the hair down the middle now & pull it all together into one pigtail, including the twist.
Part the other side & get your chunk & twist as you did to the other side. This is what it looked like when I pinned it so I could smooth all the hair into a pony tail before adding it (& as I was making my middle part for the piggies)

Make sure you include the end of the hair wrapped around (headband) into one of your pigtails or split it into both your pigtails. Now that both your piggies are in, continue twisting the piggie all the way down. Loop it up & secure it with an elastic. It automatically will do a "figure 8" twist in the pig tail if she's got long enough hair. Spray the ends a little - so they will flip over the pig tails.

Twist Pig Tails
My husband came home from work last night & surprised me with a copy of "Breaking Dawn" & I am already 1/2 way through with it. Children neglected...yes. I could barely put the book down to get them ready for the day - hence seeing it is the afternoon now. But I thought I could take a break from the book & do a post & so I can get other stuff done today too.
I adapted the twist part in this style from www.hair4myprincess.blogspot.com Check her idea out- it's pretty clever. Here's my "twist" on it:

I always do her hair right out of the bath - so her hair is damp. Do a slant part & add your 2 elastics. Then part the rest of her hair straight down the middle.
Do 2 elastcis underneath, clipping the rest of the hair up EXCLUDING the top piggies.

Now, wrap the pieces around each other.
& wrap them again so they look like this.

Pull it to the head & make the twist even with the middle part. Pin it so it will be stay put. Do the exact twist to the top, also pinning it
After you have pinned the top & bottom twists, make your pig tails, taking one side of the bobby pins out while working on that side. Still make sure both the twists are even in the middle.
Since I haven't done JUST pig tails in a long time, that's what I wanted to. I round brushed them because it is SO easy & it gives the hair volume, while curling it at the same time. So killing 2 birds with 1 stone - NO curling iron. The easiest way to round brush piggies is to blow the hair until it is ALMOST dry. Then wrap one whole side onto the round brush & blow dry it - rather than doing it in pieces or layers. It gives that soft look.

Monday's Do (pretty original - can't think of what to call this:)
So - once again, I have to show off these darling bows. For those of you who know me, know that I LOVE bows. These are super cute & SO easy to put together.
Pink & brown coordinating ribbon just cut into same length strips. Hot glued onto a clip & then do the middle like you normally would with a bow (tie in knot & hot glue down around sides)
I wanted to show you the back. If you look closely - you can see the clip with the middle part glued around.
Just another one. Pretty darn cute, right? See if you can make them yourself. This is the one I used in her hair today. It would also be cute if you made the strands smaller & so you could make 2 bows for pigtails.

More puffy braids but with some ribbon this time.
I had some ribbon that matched her outfit so I thought it would be cute to incorporate it with her hair today.
So start by parting the hair to the side. Do each section off to the side a little bit. Once you have your elastic in, tuck the ribbon under the elastic so that just a tiny bit is sticking out underneath. Make sure that little piece stays tucked underneath so you don't see it at all.

Part the section for the next elastic. Before putting the elastic in, wrap the ribbon a couple times around the strand of hair from the first section.
Continue to wrap the ribbon all the way thru your puff braids. (I did 4 sections)

Once you get to this part, twist braid the ribbon & hair together, twisting each side, like I've shown before. But the ribbon is one half & the hair is the other.
This is what it should look like.

Add gel to prep before diffusing. This is the best gel that I have found. I just buy it at Evan's Hair School & we have a huge bottle that we just keep refilling this one with. It's great for little boy's hair too.
Pssst...I know a secret!! If your little girly doesn't have natural curly hair, like mine, than here's a little secret: Beat 1 EGG WHITE & apply it to your girly's hair just like you would apply gel. Then diffuse like you normally would. Still add a little bit of gel too just to hold it. This totally works! My hair is straight as can be & it works well for me, although you might get a stinch of smelly egg white in your hair, so I would spray a bath & body works spray in it when I was done.
