my last variation on the rolled braided flower

Who doesn't love wearing these darling rolled flower headbands? {which are super easy to make btw - if you're ever wanting to learn just google them & step by step instructions will show up} This is my last post on the rolled braided flower for hair - for those of you who are sick of seeing this flower!! I've been meaning to post this forever - & I'm really excited to. There are so many ways you can wear the rolled braided flower & this is just another fun way. Also - for those of you whose girls don't like keeping the headbands in all day, {ahem} mine, this is a perfect way to do a foe head band
Do the rolled braid just like we've done in the previous post {if you haven't seen it - scroll down to get instructions - it's just a few posts before this} I then did another smaller one next to it, doing the exact same thing. For the third one, I just did it smaller, between the already there flowers. I tried to overlap it as much as possible over the 2 flowers to make it look close together & it looks better. **When I say smaller - I mean make the braid smaller - not quite as thick.
The finished look. We kept the rest of the hair down. It turned out super cute & was really fun. People actually noticed that it looked like the flower headbands!!

Remember how I told you I had another variation of the rolled flower? I'm finally getting around to posting it. I have one more idea that I want to show you with the rolled flowers so stay tuned for that also.

I love this because it replaces a bow & stays in better than a bow would which is super for this little girlie going to school & losing bows left & right.
Get a nice tight side pony. Then braid just one section on the top of pony & secure with elastic
Just like the previous post, began twisting the braid - keeping it flat & securing with bobby pins as you go along. If you can't remember - check the post out below
& you're finished!! I curled the pony but do what you want

Rolled Braided Flower

This little girlie has started kindergarten!! We are thrilled & she's lovin' it!! Who knows where we've been - we've just let time slip past us. But I'm still around - posting:)

My sister is fabulous & she actually came up with this idea - I had to ask if I could put it on here it's so genius. You know those darling flowers made out of material - that are rolled & are just so cute? Well - she thought it would be fun to try it on hair. I am in love with it & we've done it a few times since. It is one of those that YOU can do on yourself, on your girlie or even a teenager could wear. Don't we love those? I'm just sad that my hair's too short do fun things like this anymore.

CHECK back because I'm going to post another variation of this darling rolled braided flower
It starts out really easy & simple. Just pull a section of hair back & braid it. I wanted the braid back a little bit - so it didn't sit right on top of her head or too close to her forehead so just bring as far back as you would like. Secure end of braid with an elastic leaving no more than 2" at the bottom
Start by twisting the hair, but keep that braid flat to the head. After about each roll or twist - I secured it with a bobby pin
Try to hide that bobby pin as it's going in.
Keep rolling & keep that flower as flat to the head as you do so - continuing to secure with bobby pins.
When you get near the end start to twist the unbraided section & hide it under the flower & secure with bobby pin.

We left her hair down - but you could pull it up or do 3 flowers in a row - like those headbands. so cute!!

yes, another side pony, our favorites

This is one of my favorite hairstyles for my girlie. It's super fast & you can change it up with the bun or braids.

Divide 3 sections & add elastics off to the side.
Braid the top & bottom ponies
Bring to the center to make one pony
I braided the pony. Then pulled the braid half way thru & half way thru again to make a braided bun without having to go around & around the pony (those never stay or look nearly as cute for me)

Add your bow & you are finished! Easy!!

Hooray for spring!! I love this time of year & the beautiful weather with all the blooming flowers. But it looks like it's not going to last for long because we are getting some rain this week. Of course over Easter weekend. Here's my new post:

These braids are SO easy & you can really end the hair any way you want. We wore it like this on Sunday but kept it all down, or you could do 2 pig tails or you could do half up half down. So many ways. This was the fastest way for me today

Part your hair on the regular parted side. Start a braid by sectioning off just a small section at the front of the head (off the part)
Start a 3 piece braid, then add ONLY a piece from the top & add to the braid. Everytime you get back to that part - add JUST from the top.
Here's what it looks like: Add an elastic at the base of the braid. On Sunday, I kept braiding (without taking any pieces - regular old braid to finish it) & brought all braids together but do what ever is easiest/fastest for you.
Get your next section just right near the first braid & do the same thing. You will notice you won't have to braid as far because you are starting back just a tinch further back.
I did it 3 times on this side. You can see my spacing isn't the best - so maybe space yours a little better.
Same thing on the other side - only doing 2 braids since there's not as much room on that side of part. Then I brought all the hair together to a side pony & pulled it into a bun.
Spray to hold, add a bow & you are finished. My bow is from Kyla's Kreations. Check her site out if you are looking for some new, fun bows. Her link is on the right under my lists. Again, like I said - you can finish this however you want. I wanted to leave it down & curl her hair but it was not in our time - but that's what is great you can always modify!!

Remember THIS -- well that is one of our favorite hairdos to do in our home but sometimes we like to change it up a bit - so here's a little modification to the zig-zag braids:
Start by parting the hair right down the middle. Add 2 small piggies at the top of the hair & braid only one side & take it over to the other & add elastic.
Mimmick what you did up top on the bottom section:
No make your piggies & don't add any of the braids just yet
Braid the bottom piece & cross over to the opposite piggie & add elastic
Do the same thing with the top piggies & cross over to add to the opposite pigtail.
Now you have 2 pigtails that you can curl, leave straight, braid or do messy buns. So many fun options - you decide!!

(sorry we did have a front view - but she was trying to be a model in every picture & it just wasn't happening - next time:) & sorry to those who I haven't responded to their emails - I'll get there - I'm just getting a bazillion a day - so I'm getting there. My apologies!!

I love my little girl's hair down but I have to do something with the front or else it's in her eyes & face & it drives me nuts. This is SUPER easy & can be done on short or long & it was very quick. & I actually recycled this hairdo which I usually never do - but it looked really good the next day, so I pulled her hair into a side pony on that same side, braided it & it looked really cute.
Start with four elastics on the side that you part it on.
Split the middle ones in half & add together to make your next row of 3
One more time of splitting the middle ones & adding to make a row of 2.
Braid as far down as you want to go.
I kept her hair straight except for the 2 braids - I curled them & her hair was out of her face all day. Loved it.

Where have I been???

Wow!! Where has the time seriously gone? Life has just been crazy, crazy!! I keep thinking it's going to slow down this week - but it only gets worse. We are getting ready to go to Costa Rica next week so I've been trying to get lots done before we leave, which includes a project for Super Saturday that is like the next day we get home & I started teaching piano this fall & my little girlie is in preschool & the mornings (even though she leaves at 11:) we just don't have time to sit & take pictures - so there you have it. But I promise - I'm still around!! I actually have a couple hairdos that I have ready to post - it's just the "getting around to it" part that's hard. I know people are waiting for a new post so here's something VERY VERY quick that hopefully anyone can do:

Part the hair on the side. French braid just a few strands down on one side (if you aren't very good at french braiding or dont' know how, just do a regular braid - it would work just as well)
The other side, you are going to twist. Don't put an elastic in just yet!!
Bring the braid over so that it is on the side - not middle (kinda hard to tell in this picture but it is more on the side) Take the elastic out for the braid so you only have one elastic holding them both together.
I just curled the hair & added a bow. How fast is that??? But just kind of fun with it being 2 different braids on the sides. Here is a side view of the french braid.
