time for another short one

I was watching my cousins little girl the other day - cutest thing ever - but her dad brought her over & had just pulled her hair into a loose ponytail that was falling out (loved that he tried) so of course I jumped at the chance to do something fun with her hair. I'm sure I have posted this with my own girlie's hair because I am often doing these cute head bands (except ours usually goes into a side pony) they are just SO super fast & too cute!
Section the hair that you want included in your headband. Secure the rest back with an elastic so you don't add it.
Start from either side & make your way to the opposite side, spacing them evenly.
When you get to the very last one on the END, you don't want to include the headband in this. You want it's own little piggie. Because you bring it back to the existing headband & add it to it - because this is where it ends.
This is what it looks like once you take that last piece & add it back to the headband (not sure she's too happy about getting a picture yet)
I didn't get the best of shots of after - but it was DARLING!! I roundbrushed it to give it volume & then took a curling iron very quickly to the ends of her hair & curled the pony on top. Add a cute bow & it's just too cute. This seriously was a very fast do for us - even with the blowdrying part. & it can be done on long hair also.

soft curls for Easter

This was really easy & quick - the longest thing took curling, which took about 20 minutes for the entire hairdo. So once again, thinking about Easter, I wanted to do something a little more fancy that you probably wouldn't normally do for school or in the week.
First, part your headband. I don't have a picture, but I secured the two sides of the head band under the hair with an elastic to keep it as a headband. Otherwise, it would constantly be in her face, falling out. Then pull half of the hair up & don't pull through all the way, leaving a small poof on her head.
Curl her hair with this CURLING TECHNIQUE. It took about 15 minutes to curl her hair all over. We actually went to a park this day to fly kites (lots of running) & when we returned, her hair was still curly & still looked cute.
We added some little clippies in the pony left over so it gave it some texture.
You can't see well in the picture, but we sprayed hair glitter all over in her hair just go give it that special occassion look - plus the glitter is her favorite thing so it's fun to pull it out once in awhile. (i bought mine at walmart during halloween time - not sure if you are still able to buy it since it's seasonal but check a hair supply store like Sally's)

Elastic Head Band

This just adds a little something to regular pigtails. & it also keeps from a normal headband from keep falling out.
I parted her hair on a slant. Then work on one side, dividing small section & adding your elastics to make the headband. Once I got to where the hair layed over the elastic, I parted the headband then clipped the rest of the hair up so I could see what I was doing.
Repeat the same thing on the other side of the part.
Once you get to the bottom, you'll want to bring the 2 pieces altogether along with the middle section. It looks off centered but her head is just tilted. Try to make at as centered as possible.
Bring the 3 pieces together with an elastic.
Make your pigtails. Remember when you add the section from the end of the headband to divide it in half & add to each of your piggies
Add some cute bows
I flipped her ends out with a curling iron & sprayed to hold. That's it!!

Curly Sue

So I just got this darling head band & thought it would look cute with curly hair.
I used pink sponge curlers. First, I add gel. The put the curlers in when her hair is ALMOST dry & keep them in for a few hours in the morning instead of sleeping in them, because she won't. I find always works the best if you start the part in the front & roll the curlers in the way her part goes on each side. Then I make my way to the back.
This is what it looks like when I take them out. Right before I take the curlers out, I put a blow dryer to them to make sure the hair is completely dry. I run my fingers through the curls & then spray to hold.
Add your headband & there you have cute wringlets!!

Puffy Braid Headband

Her hair on the sides gets really thin, so to do this, take SMALL chunks to make it work, if your girlie's side are thinner too.
For me, it was easiest to start in the middle & go off of that part. Part a small square section right in the middle & add your elastic.
Add your second elastic, by parting it the same way & size.
& now the 3rd elastic - doing the EXACT thing.
Make your way, doing each section one at a time & then go to the other side doing the same. Try to make sure each of your parts line up with each other.
This is what it looks li ke when you are finished.
I blow dried, put polmade in & then flat ironed her hair.
That's it!! Cute way to do a head band & keeping all the bangs out of her face, but still able to wear it down.

Headband with more Twists

I wanted to do this so you can see the headband. I LOVE doing hair headbands. They are so cute & you can do them in so many ways - like a braid or french braid or even a french twist - so many unlimited options. But today - we just did a straight headband.

First off, part the hair on the natural side & then part from the part down to the earlobe - on each side of the part. Pull the rest of the hair up into a clip.
As you can see, her hair is all clipped up & I've grabbed both sides of the head band & tied them together underneath with an elastic.
Then, I parted the hair going along with that same natural part, a little bit further down & once again cut towards the ear lobe so that I had a piece that I could twist. I pinned it to the side, to stay out of my way, so I could part the hair down the middle now & pull it all together into one pigtail, including the twist.
Part the other side & get your chunk & twist as you did to the other side. This is what it looked like when I pinned it so I could smooth all the hair into a pony tail before adding it (& as I was making my middle part for the piggies)
Make sure you include the end of the hair wrapped around (headband) into one of your pigtails or split it into both your pigtails. Now that both your piggies are in, continue twisting the piggie all the way down. Loop it up & secure it with an elastic. It automatically will do a "figure 8" twist in the pig tail if she's got long enough hair. Spray the ends a little - so they will flip over the pig tails.
& once again - of course - add your darling bows. Didn't the head band turn out darling?

For those of you who have never round brushed before...

...here's a little mini lesson for you. It was hard without having someone else take pictures, so I'll try to explain the best I can.

Brush the hair & part it. Blow dry it until it is ALMOST dry. Don't dry it all the way.
I round brush her hair in 3 sections:bottom, middle & top layers. I start at the bottom & clip the rest up, as shown in the picture. I like to take the blow dryer to it again just before I start round brushing to make it a little more dry.
Start closest to the head & make your way down, with the blow dryer following (obviously couldn't show you the blow dryer because I don't have 3 hands)
Do this all around the bottom layer until it is completely dry.
Let the middle section down & clip the top up. Begin round brushing this layer until it is completely dry.
Finally, let the top layer down, or all of the hair, & round brush it until all of the hair has been round brushed & is totally dry now.

I like to add a little polmade & you are finished. You don't need a curling iron to curl the ends. By round brushing, it gives the hair volume & curls it.

FLOWER BUN

I had a cute mom that works with my husband email me & tell me that as a working mom, she needs something quick. She's tried a couple on here & they took TOO long. I know some of these that I have posted aren't the quickest, so everyday this week, I'm going to try & be creative & think of something that is QUICK but still really CUTE, rather than your ordinary pony tail or pigtails. I timed this hair do today & it took just under 8 minutes (& that was with taking pictures too). So when I mean quick - I'm going to try to do it within 5-10 minutes. So here's today:

A lot of moms have asked how I get Adde to stay still while doing her hair. I do her hair on my bed & she watches tv while I do her it. Or if you prefer the mirror, give her toys & books to play with or even snacks while you do her hair.
Do hair while is damp. Pull hair into a pony tail. I DID NOT part the hair at all, I pulled it all straight back. Grab a piece from the pony tail.
Loop that piece around & pin it. Do this all the way around the pony.
This is what it looks like once you have gone all the way around. See that extra piece hanging out from pinning your pieces? Just tuck that under the bun & pin it.
Spread each piece just so it looks more like one bun, instead of being able to see each piece pinned. Spray to hold. Add a cute head band or flower clip on the side of bun.
