what a surprise...another side pony

If you still haven't learned to french braid or inside-out french braid - you really should. So many fun things to do with it. Of course, here's another side pony!
Part the hair in 4 sections. First braid the top half.
then braid the bottom half & bring all 4 sections into a side pony
Take out the braids that are in the pony & make into a messy bun.

I did it...

I chopped a foot of hair off & was able to donate it to Locks of Love. I've been trying to talk my girlie into cutting hers into a cute bob but she will not go for it - so I woke up one morning & was like I'm sick of doing 2 girls long hair (mine & hers).

I love getting out of the shower & brushing it because it's not tangled at all. I love how fast & easy it is for me to do. But I don't love that I have the total mom look now. Oh well - I guess I should accept that since I am a mom. & I miss that I can't do lots of fun things to my hair anymore.

Here is the only picture I could find of me where my hair was down (yes another plus - I will actually do my hair now:) So here is my family picture in October:
& the after. I will have to have my husband get the back - it's shorter. This is my little boy being the photographer (who's just under 3). He would gladly take your picture too.
What do you think? Long or Short?

a down do

This was really easy to do & explain. Inside-out French Braid 3 braids at the front of the hair. Bring together to make one piggie.
Wave the rest of the hair & add a cute flower bow (she actually let me put a bow in her hair:) That's it!! How easy & it would be really cute on any length of hair or any age of girl. I had a girlie in my ward that came up & said she wants to wear her hair like that for prom - it really would look cute on any age!

What can I say...I HEART side ponies so if you see that I am constantly posting them -it's probably not the end of it. There are so many variations of doing one that I just love them & how quick they are!! Today's is especially quick:
Make your regular piggies
Cork screw twist one piggy & take the other side. Add an elastic to make ONE piggie on the side.
Cork screw twist the side pony
fold the hair in half & add elastic. Since my girlie's hair is so long, as I was adding my elastic right here, I folded her hair AGAIN in half (see pic below)
To give it more of a bun look:
The cute whispies that are left out on top of the pony, I curled.
I SO wish she would let me put bows in her hair again (although sometimes I am very sneaky & get one in without her noticing:) Spray the cute curled whispies
That's it!! Very fast & easy - anyone can do it!!

fish tail/messy buns

Hope you guys all had happy holidays & are now back into the "normal"swing of things. We just got back from Disneyland last week which was just a cherry on top to end our holidays. Now back to reality.

As I was doing this, I was thinking it would be really cute to do these little messy buns on a girlie with short hair or even just leaving them as piggies. My girlie's hair is getting so long that messy buns aren't just quite as cute as they used to be.
Start by dividing the front part of hair in 3 sections
FISH TAIL braid each of those ponies. It is a little bit harder fish tail braiding smaller pieces of hair - if you can't do it or don't have the time to do it, just do a regular braid or cork screw twist. Or you could leave it straight (especially if her hair is shorter)
After you have braided all three ponies, pull into pony tail directly behind the first 3 ponies including the braids in it.
I only did half way so that I could do 2 more piggies below. divide the hair however you feel, I wanted 5 messy piggies so this is how I divided it:
Turn each piggie into messy buns. Or you could curl them & put into messy buns or jsut leave them straight.
finished
We added a bow in the middle & it just wasn't doing it for me. Maybe a ribbon on each one would look cute.

I love my little girl's hair down but I have to do something with the front or else it's in her eyes & face & it drives me nuts. This is SUPER easy & can be done on short or long & it was very quick. & I actually recycled this hairdo which I usually never do - but it looked really good the next day, so I pulled her hair into a side pony on that same side, braided it & it looked really cute.
Start with four elastics on the side that you part it on.
Split the middle ones in half & add together to make your next row of 3
One more time of splitting the middle ones & adding to make a row of 2.
Braid as far down as you want to go.
I kept her hair straight except for the 2 braids - I curled them & her hair was out of her face all day. Loved it.

I know these are really called topsy tails - but I like to call them tuck under knots. Most of you by now know how to do the tuck under knots. So this is just puffy braids on each side with each one a tuck under knot. Super easy to do. Sometimes - I get sick of curling the ends, or doing messy buns - I just wanted the tuck under knots to go all the way down.
Start at the top & after each elastic, do your tuck under knot & then go on to the next.
I did 3 going down the head on both sides.
Once you do 3, you've got your 2 piggy tails left. Continue with the tuck under knots on the pony tail until as far down as you want to go.

& we're finished. This would work on long or short - even if you just went once or twice down with short hair. It's super easy & pretty fast when we're in a hurry to be going somewhere.

You could even add some ribbons at the end but she's starting to not like bows as much. I even thought about threading ribbon through back & forth to make it look more christmasee - maybe we'll try it later & post it to see how it looks.
