I know these are really called topsy tails - but I like to call them tuck under knots. Most of you by now know how to do the tuck under knots. So this is just puffy braids on each side with each one a tuck under knot. Super easy to do. Sometimes - I get sick of curling the ends, or doing messy buns - I just wanted the tuck under knots to go all the way down.
Start at the top & after each elastic, do your tuck under knot & then go on to the next.
I did 3 going down the head on both sides.
Once you do 3, you've got your 2 piggy tails left. Continue with the tuck under knots on the pony tail until as far down as you want to go.

& we're finished. This would work on long or short - even if you just went once or twice down with short hair. It's super easy & pretty fast when we're in a hurry to be going somewhere.

You could even add some ribbons at the end but she's starting to not like bows as much. I even thought about threading ribbon through back & forth to make it look more christmasee - maybe we'll try it later & post it to see how it looks.

For the short & the long

My niece slept over again so once again, we got to show a SHORT hair do for today! I LOVE side ponies on little girlies, but when you have such short hair, it's hard to keep all that hair up in the pony tail & so it's not falling down all day. Here's a great way to keep that pony in place:
All you do on this are the tuck under knots. Part the hair on the side & go off the part for each section.
Make your way around the head, making the tuck under knots on the side of the head, spacing them out evenly.
On the other side, we just added 2.
Bring the hair from both sides into a side pony. We finished it with a half way pulled thru bun & added our cute bow.
Now you have a side pony that isn't your typical one.

For the LONGER version:
Start it out the exact way. But NO tuck under knots (her hair is starting to get too thick to do tuck under knots in a row with the entire hair so we skipped this step) Instead - add one pony, add the second, then braid the first & add it to the second.
Do one on the other side also. Because my girlie's hair is longer & thicker than the short hair style, I spaced them out farther - making it super fast for me. For the shorter hair, you want it closer together so no hair falls out each pony.
I braided the pony to end it & added our cute bow. This seriously took me less than 10 minutes on each girl. Try it out!

another short style

My niece slept over the other night & the girls wanted twinner hair (is twinner a word?). My little niece's hair isn't long & it's very thin - so I was thinking what can I do for both of them with their hair up & out of their way - since they were on their way to gymnastics.
Here gives you an idea about how long her hair is:
We started from the bottom, making our way up. Just add 2 elastics. On short hair, this works AWESOME because it keeps the hair up all day long, instead of little whispies falling down & having to clip them up.
Do your next row & adding 3 elastics & dividing the first row of hair to go into each of the 2nd row of elastics.
Now pull the rest of the hair into 2 piggies. Make sure to remember to include the hair from the 2nd row, as shown. Once you have your 2 piggies in, do a tuck under knot or whatever you call it - & so the hair is flipped on top of the pony.
Curl the piggies
& you are finished!! If you were ambitious - you could do one more row of elastics before adding your piggies but since I had 2 girls hair to do - we didn't because of time.
So here's the long version. This is my girlie. The only difference that we did was with each elastic, we did a tuck under knot with it.
Here are the 2 little girlies together (of course the onery one is mine:) Same style - but looks different because of the length of the hair.

tucked under buns

I've had a few people ask for me to show a video doing the messy buns or other things. If you look to the right at the list "labels" & click on tutorials, it will show you all of the videos I have done so far, which has the messy buns on it.

So for today - here's what we came up with:
The part is a little different from what I normally would do. Instead of a zig-zag part, make it look like boxes. Pull into pigtails.
Tuck under the pigtails, going the opposite way that you normally would, so the hair sits on top of the knot.
Then start pinning the pigtails under so you don't see any of the ends.
Spread the hair with your fingers & spray to hold.

3 messy piggies

Wow!! I think that's the longest I haven't posted something new. I'm so sorry to those who are waiting for a new idea. I was gone for 2 weeks & I'm finally getting back to the routine of things. But it's not slowing down with Christmas right around the corner. It gets so hectic!! We have to get a babysitter 4 different times this week!! & I'm sure life is in the fast lane for everyone right now. I'm pretty proud I squeezed in time to post this. I've been thinking of some new things - if I can just get some more time added to life:)

Here it is:

Start by doing the tuck under knot
I hope you can see from this picture, but I sliced the hair down from the tuck under not down to her ear. This is what started my inside out french braid.
As part of the 3 sections to start the braid, I used the half of the tuck under knot for one section & divided the other part in half to give me 3 sections.
Do the braid on each side, just braiding down a few strands.
Divide the rest of the hair into 3 sections. Put into messy piggies. As I was pulling the hair up, I split each end of braids in half so that one half went into side pony & the other half of it went into the middle. Do it with both sides - so the sides don't have more hair than the middle. It makes it more even. Spray to hold. If she would have let me - I would have added 3 cute bows, but she's kind of getting to that stage where she doesn't want her bows in anymore. So bummed out!

dIffErEnt brAIds

This is just ponies with different braids, but you could do them all the same type of braid if you aren't sure how to do anything else.
Pull just the front back & do a tuck under knot.
From the pony of the tuck under knot, do different braids. I did a twist braid, normal braid & fish tail braid.
Pull it all into a low pony tail. Section the hair & do different braids in the pony. I did the same as above.
I added a bow to the top but with or without one looks cute.
& that's it!! Pretty quick & simple!

Knots & Braids

This works the best if her hair is damp, not dry. It's easier to do the knots that way. All it is are the tuck-under knots with a little variation.
Part the hair. Do the tuck-under knots going down, instead of back.
braid the pony that comes from the knot & pin it back to keep it out of the way.
Get your next section & add the braided pony to it. To do this tuck under knot, you divide the hair in half, just like you normally would & push the braid to one side & tuck it under. Pretty simple.
I did 3 sections of each of these on each side of the head. Put into braided piggies, add your cute bows & you are done!!
