I know. I know - another 4th of July style. I'm sure you are probably all so sick of seeing these but they have been so much fun to do. But thankfully for you, this will probably be the last one since we will be leaving here in the next day or 2 for the holiday.
First - I know you have all seen these. I was at the dollar store the other day & thought I have to get those - they would be perfect coming out of my girlie's hair. This is what you see on the top of the hair.
We started by doing our 2 pigtails with a zig zag part.
Next, add 2 different ribbons into the elastic. You are going to split the hair in half to do your corkscrew twist so you want one ribbon for each half.
Go ahead with your corkscrew twist.
Pull it back up & secure with an elastic. With the ribbon that was left hanging out, I just tied together in a bow.
As I was blow drying just the ends of her hair, I wrapped the ends around my fingers while the heat was on it to give it the curled over effect - so it looks like your firework. If your girlie's hair is a little more straight & doesn't want to cooperate, then pull out the curling iron & curl those ends over the pigtails. Spray to hold.

Pigtails, curled
I know this is really simple today but it's something everybody should be able to do. Don't mind the mess in the background. It was wash day so my sheets are in the wash.

Anyway - start by adding some type of polmade or curling gel after it is dry. I use Garnier Fructis curling gel or reshapable putty - they both work well. Then I clamp the hair down closer to the base of the head.

zig-zag braids
This might look a lot more complicating than what it really is. It's actually quite easy. All you have to be able to do is know how to do a regular braid.
First, make 3 piggies on each side.
I started with the top right & braided it.
Take it across, over to the top left. Add your elastic.

MESSY TWISTS
I did twist braids on this, but if you can't remember how to do it - do regular braids. I just think twist braids are easier. If you click on twist on the labels list - scroll down to a post where it shows how to do a twist braid.
If anyone knows how to make the word twist be highlighted & then you click on it so it takes you to how to do it instead of having to scroll & look for it - let me know. I cannot figure it out for the life of me!! Thanks!!
Zig-zag the part & do your two piggies.
Twist braid both the ponies (as many as you can get out of one pony)
Remember this messy bun we did a couple weeks ago?
& to secure it - you looped each piece & added a pin to secure it.
That's what you are going to do with each of the twists. Each twist will loop & secure with a bobby pin. The ends of what is left over, I looped all together & added a pin also. There were a few strands sticking out so I just sprayed them to keep them from sticking straight up. Make sure you go around in a circle getting each twist on your way.

My Version of Messy Buns
I've had a few requests to show how I do my messy buns. There are different ways you can do it but I think this looks best & is SO fast.
Do your pigtail/pony tail. Don't pull the hair all the way through so it looks like a loop.
I scrunch up all of the hair into a ball with my hands.
Wrap your rubber band around it. I wrap the elastic twice so it is VERY easy to come out (it really isn't hard to get out). Now that her hair is getting so long, I usually have to do 2 different rubberbands around the messy bun so it stays close together & isn't so HUGE. But if your girlie's isn't as long, you should just need one.
Tug at some strands to make the messy bun look even.
Spray to hold & that's it!! Easy, right?
I do do it differently once in awhile, but this is what I usually resort to. If you have a way you do your messy buns & would like to share with all of us, email me step by step instructions & we'll post it for everyone to see.

2 low pig-tail braids
I think this makes her look older - but it's so cute.
I normally do her hair damp, but with this one, I totally dried it before hand. Then I added polmade, like usual. I pulled her bangs (pretend bangs) back & ratted it under neath to give it a little more volume. Then pin the bangs back.
Then I did my zig-zag part. Pull one side into a clip so it's out of your way. I again ratted (ratted sounds so gross) the top & put it into a pony tail. Pull the hair up a little so it's not tight against the scalp. Do the same to the other side.
Braid the piggie tails. I only went about half way down - just so I could curl the ends of them.
Add some cute bows & you're finished.
